Apple and citrus notes are dominant in both smell and taste. The fruity, medium-long sip is accompanied by vibrant, broad acids. Dry sip, nice finish, perfect for an aperitif drink.

It makes an excellent aperitif when well chilled; also a great companion to poultry, fish dishes and salads.

2021

The 2021 vintage was followed by an unusually cool spring with plenty of summer sunshine. It brought in the backwardness of grape development, so its harvest dates evoked “old times”. The heat of summer and the moderate rainfall allowed the formation of pleasant aromas. The cooler October weather following sunny September has contributed to the development of more vibrant acids, which will result in vibrant, vibrant wines from this vintage.

Villány Wine Region
Pillangó and Dobogó vineyards, southern and southwestern aspect

VARIETIES

Olaszrizling (77%), Riesling (23%),

VINIFICATION-MATURATION

Each variety was treated independently, separately fermented in tanks at 16 to 20°C and then the two wines were blended. No malolactic fermentation was performed, thus the wine retains its natural acids. A wine made with the reductive approach; this (oxygen-isolated) process preserves the fresh and perfumy fruitiness.

Crispy and elegant, a true rosé by nature.

The liveliness of strawberry and lime is reminiscent in the intensive bouquet and taste. The freshness and vividness are supported by the powerful acidity, asking for another sip each time.

On the label: one of the characters from the ancient Villány legend, the saviour Cock shouting out that the sun has risen.

As an aperitif well-chilled and as the pair of light meals (salads and roasted poultry).

60% Pinot Noir, 40% Merlot

VINIFICATION-MATURATION
The grapes harvested from the vineyards designated for the rosé are pressed without fermentation with the grape skins. MACSKA Portugieser 2020

In the Villany wine region portugieser is a variety that can be found in every cellar. In the ‘Legend of the devilplowed hill’ it is represented by the cat.

We couldn’t live everyday life without it. A thirst-quenchingly fruity, nice and easygoing wine that ‘purrs’ and flatters – a wine that feels good to drink every day! The varietal specific red berries on the nose are rounded off by a combination of sour cherry, plum and sloe on the palate. Its tannins are soft and velvety.

It is a good match with lighter Hungarian dishes, fish for example, and Italian starters and pastas.

2020

The vintage of 2020 featured cooler weather (following a warm spring) and average precipitation. The high annual heat  had a positive impact on ripening – taste, scent and aromatic notes are quite concentrated in wines from this vintage. The months around the harvest had low volume of rain, long periods of sunshine and cool nights, enabling us the work with grapes that have high levels of acidity.

Our chardonnay is round, fresh and ethereal, like the character it is named after. In the ancient legend of Villány HЁRKA is the beautiful maiden, whom the devil couldn’t resist.

It is a good companion with cream sauces and soups, such as vegetable cream soup orbéchamel, white meat and fish,or grilled vegetables.

BELZEBUB Cuvée 2019

  • Details

ÖRDÖG is the blend of local varieties in the classicus product range, named after the Devil in love in the traditional Villány legend. It is not the finesse, but the liveliness that makes it popular.

The most valuable characteristics of this blend of local varieties are its powerful, dynamic structure, lively and refreshing acidity. On the palate it features the fruity notes of dried sour cherry and ripe cherry with hints of cinnamon spiciness. In the aftertaste the taste and texture reminiscent of cocoa powder also appear. The idea of the legend’s devil about marriage lives on in this diabolical blend.

It pairs well with slightly fattier meat roasts or spicy hot vegetable ragouts. It also pairs perfectly with paprika dishes, Italian pasta and not overly tangy cheese.

Bogyólé 2021

  • Vintage
  • Details

BOGYÓLÉ is the nouveau wine from the Villány slopes, the first red wine of the vintage, made in observance of the winemaking traditions of the French Beaujolais Nouveau. Our only red wine that is only red in colour, but practically lacks tannin. The wine itself is born within the grape and then it explodes to life. The Hungarian brand name “Bogyólé” refers to this origin. As a nouveau wine, the first wine from 2020 also brings about the typical new wine character that is so popular: zesty, lively, cheerful, explosively fruity: full of scents and aromas of raspberry, red berries and rum punch. It feels easy to drink and spreads happiness.

TRIVIA:
With our traditional yearly artistic competition, the nouveau wine debuts in a new costume every year. This year, all graphic design programmes in higher-education were invited to the competition, and the institutions were also represented on the panel assessing the submissions. This year’s winner is Veronika Kovács, student of the Metropolitan University, Budapest.

Traditionally recommended for St. Martin’s Day delicacies (especially goose meals)!
