FIRST ARRIVALS OF VINTAGE 2010
St. Martin's wines
November is the best time of the year for the fans of primeur wines and goose dishes. Year by year greater anticipation precedes St. Martin’s Day (11th November) when the primeur wines are released in Hungary. It is the perfect time to get the first fresh and bursting wines of the vintage!
St. Martin was a fourth century Hungarian-born saint. There are many folk believes relating to him, and most have to do with geese and wine. According to one old saying, "Who does not eat goose on St. Martin's Day, will be hungry all year."
St. Martin’s Day falls around the time when judgement is declared on the year’s vintage, with the first tastings and geese are slaughtered, stuffed and gobbled up for this day. Hence, the saint is associated with wine. Fresh wine resembling France’s Beaujolais Nouveau, is consumed on this day, with many traditional goose dishes.
Bogyolé (Primeur) debuts now along with Rosé from 2010 vintage! It’s the most delicious when served with traditional goose dishes, and it sure brings the luck!
Vylyan’s label design tender

Vylyan always takes the opportunity to support art that represents value and gladly help the initiatives of the open-minded, young and talented artists.
A good example for this is Vylyan’s design tender for the label of Bogyole. Year by year we give the opportunity to art students at University of Pecs to design the label and introduce their talent to a wider audience.
Take a look at this years winners!
Vylyan Bogyole (Primeur) 2010
Bogyole, the “Beaujolais” of the slopes of Villány is a typical primeur wine made differently from other reds, fermented in whole cluster excluding oxygen so the wine is born inside the berries.
Whole bunches of freshly picked, uncrushed grapes are in the vats filled with carbon dioxide. At the beginning the wine starts fermenting without oxygen, so the wine is born inside the berries. Fermentation ends after pressing. This technique preserves the fresh, fruity quality of the wine. It’s a lively and bursting wine with delightful aromas of bright red fruits (raspberry) and banana.

Villanyi Rosé (ROOSTER) 2010
Soft and ethereal rosé with delicate exotic fruits and flower nuances (rose petals, jasmine). Lively, fruity, juicy wine as always.
We pressed the grapes for Rosé in whole cluster, so it resulted in fine and clear must. Grapes were pressed right away, without maceration; this gives the wine a bright and rosy tone. Alcoholic fermentation was done in stainless steel; temperature was kept between 16 and 20°C. We store the wine in the tanks in order to keep the natural carbon dioxide, which helps to express gentle and smooth acidity.
On the label one of the characters of the old, local legend of Villány: the Rooster, the saviour, who crowed his heart out for the sunrise.
