Launch of the flagship - Duennium 2006

DUENNIUM is a special encounter of the past, present and the future.

It is the “flagship” of our winery - only made in the best vintages, produced from carefully selected grapes of the best vineyards.
This is our sixth Duennium blended from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The harmony of this wine is due to long barrel and bottle maturation.

It is a ripe and complex wine, the different varies frame a mature unity. It has an explicit, upstanding and balanced structure with ripe tannins, vital acidity and velvety texture.
The aromas are intense and complex with notes of ripe fruits (dark forest fruits), star anise, cedar, cinnamon and clove.
The palate is massive but fruity at the same time. The rich flavour is dominated by caramel, tobacco and creamy chocolate mousse. It has a long-lasting finish,
...extension of the moment.

We present this wine to you now, when it manifest itself in its perfect elegance after the long bottle aging.

NEW LABEL, OLD SYMBOLISM

We shaped the new costume of DUENNIUM to our selection wines (PILLANGO and MANDOLAS vineyard selections) keeping the gingko biloba leaf on the label - symbolising eternity.

Gingko tree is famous for surviving everything, even the atomic bomb explosion in Hiroshima.
Gingko is a special species among today’s plants, it is the only living representative of its order. It so contrasts from all the living plants today that it cannot be nearly related to any of them.

It is consider a saint tree in Asia, and it has been inspiring poets and painters for decades.

…We were also inspired by this special tree, so that is why we dreamt the gingko leaf on the label of this unique wine.

HISTORY OF THE NAME ‘DUENNIUM’

We created our wine, Duennium to the Millennium of 2000, starting with the last three vintages (’97, ’98, ’99) of the Millenary.

Back then we asked the professor of Gál Ferenc Theological College of Szeged, how the Pope would officially call the Millennium. He quickly replied: Duennium! We were happy about the name and registered it as a trademark right away. A few days later the professor called and told us that the official name of the Millennium actually was going to be ’Bis Duo Millecentenarium’, which, however, was completely inadequate for our aims because of its length.

After a long deliberation we decided to keep the appealing name DUENNIUM!
