BELZEBUB - A NOVELTY FROM VYLYAN

Brand new blend from Vylyan Winery based on Hungarian varieties. Belzebub, the devil of the old, local legend is loveable: we wish the same to our newcomer!

It's not the devil itself, but our winemaker István Ipacs Szabó, who has created this wine.
The nice and elegant Bordeaux blends have already been highly acknowledged in the Villány wine region. This novelty of Vylyan, however, lays emphasis on the local varieties, and wishes to show the traditional flavour of the region.

This blend is based on local/Hungarian varieties that create unique harmony and style. It is an energetic wine with strong character. Not its finesse, but its vitality that catches us.  The spice, zest, and rich fruitiness (blackberry, black-currant, ripe sour cherry) of Blaufränkish, Kadarka, and Zweigelt are complemented with the warmth of Merlot. Barrel aging makes it really demonic.
The wine was named after Belzebub, the devil from the old, local legend who was in love with the beautiful girl, Harka and was fooled by the old witch. In his fury, Beelzebub disappeared into the centre of the earth and now emerged to make the memory of his passionate love live on in this marriage.
Tasting the wine you may agree with the old saying: “Give the devil your little finger, you will be taken entirely.”
