Pinot Noir
A light ruby-red wine that does not seduce with its full body, but with its delicacy and elegance. Its silky tannins and aromas are reminiscent of red berries it is a living proof that Villány provides a good environment for these grapes. It shows marked changes in character in the bottle, making it an adventure to follow its progress through the years.

The story of our love affair with Pinot started in 1998 and since then we’ve been experimenting this variety with great pleasure. (Vintage 2004 was selected among the best wines of the World by Michel Bettane & won a Decanter WWA regional trophy.) This grape is famously delicate and exciting. ‘It can stand no mediocrity in the vineyard or cellar. It is a constant challenge to get closer to it’s moody character. It provides an elegant, luscious and sophisticated wine. Just as our 2006 Pinot with “perfume” and finesse but also strength and longlivity. The rich, delicate aromas make the wine a good match with a number of dishes.
Earlier vintages:
Vylyan Pinot Noir 2005
We harvested the grapes from four single vineyards (Varerdo, Dobogo, Mandolas and Gombas) and we vinified them separately. Maturation took place in Hungarian oak for 8 months. We believe that the old vineyards were giving the frame or the structure of the wine, while the new vineyards the “perfume” and charm. During bottle aging, Pinot Noir changes a lot and developing a lovely bouquet.
Vylyan Pinot Noir 2004
This shining ruby coloured wine was bottled after 11 months barrel aging. The fragrance is filled with fruitiness, reminiscent of a basket of ripe fruits (strawberry, raspberry, orange, black-currant), complemented with the spiciness of cloves.
Conscious use of wood makes the taste harmonic and complex. The character of the variety developing and changing in the bottles, so it is exciting to taste it year by year again. Good companion with lamb, game, foie gras, roasts, and goat cheese. Serving temperature: 15°C.
Vylyan Pinot Noir 2003
We had planted this variety on the cooler western and south-western slopes. The resulting wine was partly fermented in wooden vats and matured for six months in new oak before bottling. The structure is typical for Pinot Noir with silky acidity and tannins is complemented with the fruitiness of red forest fruits and some spices. Perfect company for spicy grilled meats, roasts and medium cheeses. Serving temperature: 15 C°.
