Merlot
A highly temperamental variety, which produces unforgettable wines in good years. The variety is usually referred to as „she“. In the region and in our winery the strong aroma of raspberries present in this wine leaves little room for mistaken identity.

Took root in our region more than one hundred years ago, and captivates with its versatility. The variety is mostly referred to as ”she“. This vintage is showing a different face like her “older sister”. Red berry fruit (cranberry, raspberry and ripe sour cherry) display good juicy intensity, brightened by zesty spices (chilli chocolate, mint, cocoa and fennel). It’s lovable and easy to get close to.

Made from grapes grown on the south, south-west slopes of our oldest plantation. Rich, round and nicely balanced wine. The variety is mostly referred as – in this case elegantly matured - „SHE“. Its delicate, warm, ripe fruity scent and aromas encourage us to taste. Capable for long cellar aging.
Villanyi Merlot 2005
Made from grapes grown on the south, south-west slopes of our oldest plantation. A nicely balanced wine, round and pliant with a feminine touch and well detailed character. Its delicate scent urges to taste: raspberry, cherry and plum aromas are wrapped in spiciness like vanilla, aniseed and mint.
Vylyan Merlot 2004
Full-bodied, balanced wine with deep ruby colour. The nose pleasantly and irresistibly cites perfumes, encouraging for tasting. On the palate vivid and fresh sour cherry and blackberry, turning into silky and soft in the finish. Nice match with barbecues and roasts with eg. forest-fruit jam.
Vylyan Merlot 2003
The highly concentrated and ruby red wine was matured for 16 months in 225 l barrels made of Zemplen and Mecsek oaks. The wine is well balanced, with ripe raspberries, aniseed, mint and dark chocolate in the aromas. Suitable for long cellar maturation. Recommended for roasts, steaks and ripe cheeses.
Vylyan Merlot 2002
Made from grapes grown on the south and southwesterly slopes of Pillango single vineyard in the Villany region, the resulting wine is highly concentrated and dark ruby red in colour. It was matured for 16 months in 225 l barrels made of Zemplen and Mecsek oaks. The wine shows a nice balance. At tasting the dominant notes were of ripe morello cherries, aniseed, mint and dark chocolate. Suitable for long cellar maturation. Recommended for roasts, steaks and mature cheeses.
