Kadarka
A light red wine with low tannins – a modern rephrasing of an ancient type. A wine with a characteristic spicy bouquet, produced only in small quantities in our cellar.

Kadarka is a traditional autochthon grape variety - the first black grape of Villany (wine region of Hungary, southwest). A rich fruity zesty and spicy wine was born in the 2007 vintage. The fruitiness is always reminiscent of dried fruits (figs, dried sour cherry and cranberry) melded with zesty aromas (punch, cinnamon & black pepper).
Earlier vintages:
Villanyi Kadarka 2006
Kadarka is a traditional autochthon grape variety - the first black grape of Villany (wine region of Hungary, southwest). The warm and sunny autumn of 2006 was the latest Kadarka harvest in our history. The resulted wine is packed with notes of cherry, orange, dried figs, punch, almond and black pepper. A true Kadarka is full of flavours and spiciness accompanied with fresh fruitiness.
Vylyan Kadarka 2004
Smooth, light bodied ruby red wine, with low tannin content. Tasteful and spicy, the palate is dominated by fresh tart red fruits of raspberry and sour cherry. A touch of herbs, rose and white pepper is also detectable. Well balanced by its acids and spicy aromas, it is a pleasant accompanion of paprika dishes, Italian pasta and fresh cheese.
Vylyan Kadarka 2003
In 2003 with great expectations we made our first vintage with Kadarka, Hungary’s most prized local grape variety. The end result is a light and fresh red wine - an ancient tradition in a contemporary style. Full flavoured and spicy, reminding our winemaker of a fruity cake, although the wine is absolutely dry. It is a great accompaniment with light dishes, soft cheeses and Italian pastas.
